Grit

Off the clock: ultratrail marathons. Fifty kilometres and more through the mountains, three thousand metres of climb, one lesson on repeat — the summit is negotiable, the next step is not.

The English word for it is grit, and it carries the work as much as the running. Staying with a hard problem long after the novelty is gone: that’s where the good part starts.
